I’m Emily Waechtler, owner and designer of Blue Corduroy.  I started Blue Corduroy in 2007, when my youngest daughter was one.  My two daughters were my first inspiration to make children clothing and accessories.  As my girls have grown into young nature lovers themselves, I still feel a desire to support and encourage the next generation of mamas and their littles to enjoy nature.  

I learned to sew, knit, crochet, and embroider as a child and fell in love!  I have a BA degree from UC Santa Cruz in Costume Design.  I’ve made wedding dresses, theatrical costumes, had a small company with a friend (before I started my family) making and selling surf style clothing and accessories, and I’ve worked for O’neill Wetsuits as a wetsuit repair coordinator.

I am thankful everyday for my life as a handmade shop owner. My husband  and our 2 daughters, who we home school,  live a simple life on the Central Coast of California spending much of our time at the beach and laughing together.
