Small Shop Gift Ideas for Girls
Some people have the gift of giving gifts. They show their love for you by buying gifts, and they are really good at knowing what gifts will light you up! I’m not one of those people. I struggle with knowing what gift to buy for each individual and am always second guessing whether they will like it or not. I often wait to the very last minute, and then panic buy something.
This year is going to be different. This year I’m buying gifts that show my love in a different way. Gifts that show love with intention. Intention for quality is better than quantity. Intention for spending my money either locally or in small businesses.
Here’s a few ideas for you, all in one photo. Items that are either handmade or from small businesses that any girls would love to open as a gift!

Personalized Knits for Baby
The only thing better than a bonnet and sweater that are hand made for your baby is to have them also personalized! I mean, talk about such special heirloom pieces.
Homegrown Knot Co. crochets gorgeous sweaters for all ages, and I love how she made this gender neutral one with the option for a monogram.
The bonnet is made by myself and is fully customizable from color, size, pom pom, and baby’s name initial.
When Homegrown Knot Co. and I realized we were making these monogrammed options in our shops, we knew they would look so cute together too!
The sweater is totally gender neutral in the best earthy color combo. The bonnet can be made totally gender neutral or you can choose other color options as well.
These pieces would make such great baby shower gifts or special additions to a coming home outfit. And what toddler doesn’t just love seeing the letters of their name, it makes them feel so important and big!
You’ll find links to both our shops below.

Hit the Beach with these Cozy Knit Beanies
It's been a while since I've had some adult beanies in the shop. As our days are getting shorter and cooler, we find we need to add an extra layer to our beach clothes. Because lets face it, that colder weather isn’t going to keep us from enjoying our favorite place in the world!
That's where these new beanies come in handy! Bonnets aren’t just for babies, adults need cozy hats too!
Knit with a super soft, chunky yarn and topped with a big 'ol pom pom! They'd go great with one of these scarves!

Are You Ready to Knit a Sweater?
Once you learn how to knit a baby sweater, there’ll be no stopping you! Sweaters for all the babies!!!
Knitting a sweater always has felt like the measure of wether you can call yourself an experienced knitter or not. But really, isn’t it all just combinations of knits and purls? There are definitely some perks to knitting a sweater, the obvious being the fact that you now own a handmade quality, custom, wardrobe staple that you will probably have for the rest of your life! Or in this case, you’d be able to pass down a baby sized sweater to your grandchildren’s grandchildren.
Knitting your first sweater can feel a little daunting so buying a kit may make it easier to just dive right in! Wool and the Gang makes all sorts of knitting and crochet kits that include the pattern, yarn, and tools you’ll need to complete your project. No guess work on what size yarn would work best, or time lost gathering needles you don’t have.
This sweet baby sweater kit from Wool and the Gang is called the “Mamma Sweater” and is mainly knit up in the seed stitch which gives it that great texture. I love the bold blocks of color too. Baby sweaters are a great way to start your sweater making skills because they knit up so much quicker! However, you still get the practice of following a more complex pattern, piecing your project together, and probably learning new stitch techniques along the way.
Sweater weather is also a sure sign that it’s bonnet weather too! Hand made goodies from head to toe, what a treat! This Blue Corduroy Sherpa Baby Bonnet in Mustard Corduroy sure looks cute with this color block knit sweater! Bring on the hand made coziness!!!

Fall Baby Fedora Hats in Corduroy
Fall Baby Style is All About Dressing Appropriate for the Season
Your baby doesn’t have to be a fashion diva to be able to enjoy the fall season to its fullest. Playing outside in the fall means adding a few more layers to stay cozy as the days start to get chilly. This season it’s festive to wear warm neutral tones that mimic the natural shades around us, like falling leaves, golden hills, and evergreen trees. But your baby will also need to keep that bright fall sunshine off of their face. The perfect sun hat for fall keeps the sun out of their eyes, and the chill off of their head.
As you are picking apples in the orchard in preparation of making your first apple pie of the season, you’ll be wearing your sunglasses and uggs, and you’re baby will be wearing a corduroy fedora and elastic waiste jeans.
Corduroy in the Season’s Colors
These corduroy baby fedoras have been a best seller in my shop. This season I’ve given you three great colors to choose from, mustard yellow, rust and olive green! Available in sizes from newborn baby to school aged child, they’re the perfect hat for fall.
One of the funnest parts of the changing seasons is playing with the new color palate it brings. In spring I find that I surround myself with pastels, fresh, and soft. In the fall I feel drawn towards rusts, neutrals, and warm tones.

The Garden Lattice Knit Baby Bonnet Pattern
A knit baby bonnet pattern in worsted weight yarn! A quick intermediate level project or for a seasoned beginner wanting to practice some stranded colorwork. These make perfect gifts for baby showers or your own little ones! There can never be too many bonnets for any baby, am I right?
This worsted weight baby bonnet starts out with some rows of ribbing, and then a two color stranded pattern, worked in stockinette stitch. The edges eventually are joined together to finish up the bonnet knitting in the round. I use a crochet hook to add the ties and finish up the bottom edge. You can use either double pointed needles throughout the whole project or circular needles, or switch out between them both as you desire.
I always think the funnest part of using multiple yarns in a project is picking out the colors! I recommend using Magnolia and Oak Fibers worsted weight hand dyed alpaca yarn for this fun project.

Winter Baby Bonnets with a Cozy Feminine Touch
One of the exciting things about the weather getting cooler is that it's time to put on those bonnets! These sweet crocheted baby bonnets have a feminine touch and are oh so cozy! Hand made from an Alpaca blend yarn makes them extremely soft.
Available in three of my most favorite fall colors, mustard yellow, dusty rose, and forest green. Edged with a creamy white. As usual I can't decide which color I like best of all, how about you?

Heirloom Crochet Baby Bonnet Kit
I am so excited about this project Alysia of Magnolia and Oak Fibers and I have been working on over the past few months. A crochet baby bonnet kit where you can make your very own heirloom worthy baby bonnet! The timeless design of this bonnet paired with the luxury of this yarn makes it something that you would truly want to put on your little one.
This crochet bonnet kit includes everything you'll need to make this simple and sweet bonnet in sizes newborn to 24 mos. Your choice of four colors of Alysia's hand dyed baby alpaca yarn, a birchwood crochet hook, a pattern designed by myself with beginning crocheters in mind and links to handy crochet tutorials, and a muslin drawstring project bag.
The kit is available in four different color options. The softest baby alpaca yarn hand dyed with natural dyes by Magnolia and Oak Fibers. You can pick from Camellia, Manzanita, Larkspur, and Goldenrod.
The pattern uses simple crochet stitches like a chain stitch, single crochet, double crochet and the magic circle. A front and back post double crochet stitch is used for the ribbing effect at the brim of the bonnet, which is fully explained in the pattern.
