fall scarves: shop update

It's starting to really feel like fall, isn't it?  It feels like the right time to be making (and wearing) some fun new scarves!!  Here's just a few of the new colors and designs I have added to the shop.  Including new flower pins!  There seems to be an infinite variety of colors and styles when it comes to scarves, so don't be surprised if you keep seeing new ones popping up over here.  And if you have any favorite combo's you want to tell me about, please do!

Another good reason to start stocking up on these scarves is that I'm preparing for the upcoming Stitch Market this holiday season!  It will be held Dec. 6th and 7th.  See here for more details.  Lindsey and I always enjoy putting this fun market together.

right now

Right now, we are:

  • ready to say hello to fall.
  • happy to welcome our new friend the caterpillar, Hank, who will soon become a butterfly right in our very own dining room.
  • enjoying our first year of full time homeschooling
  • taking bike rides all over town
  • taking advantage of the warm afternoons with some fun nature hikes
  • reading some amazing literature

in the garden

We got two beautiful dark orange pumpkins this year in the garden. Too beautiful to make pumpkin pie out of, but i do have my eyes on some yummy pie recipes. (thanks Martha).

I just love the little green tendrils. Such a contrast to the large bold squash.

And then there's these guys. They just grow wherever they feel like it. And they smell so yummy, too.

new chunky soft crocheted scarves

Although our weather here on the Central Coast only changes about 10 degrees throughout the year, I have felt a certain "fall" feeling in the air.

I've learned to dress in layers. Because what may start out a chilly morning can warm up into a roasting afternoon. A soft chunky scarf is the perfect fall time layer.

The blue corduroy shop now has these cozy bozy, chunky, soft, scalloped edged, crocheted, perfect for fall scarves available to purchase.

Crocheted flower brooch sold separately (look for these in the shop soon).

camera challenge{d}: time to practice

Pictures from around the house, on a warm, lazy, fall afternoon.

It's been a long time since I've had to learn something new. Something that I am motivated to learn. Something I am selfishly learning just because I want to. They say the only way to get better at doing something is to practice, practice, practice.

I am feeling the luxury of having the time, the equipment, and such a beautiful day to spend learning something new. I carefully guard these precious pockets of time. For myself and for my girls.

the apple farm

Oh how we love the apple farm! And I've told you before, but there's just something so special about apple season.

Our apple farm has the cutest market, a small petting zoo, the best ice cream, and offers a genuine tractor ride out to the orchards.

Already, the trees are just loaded with fruit!
(this isn't our first trip of the season, and won't be our last.)
